On May 17,on the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day,China Unicom announced that it will establish equipment manufacturing,smart mining,smart steel,clothing manufacturing,automobile manufacturing,smart medical care,smart legal affairs,smart emergency response,and smart transportation for key vertical industries.The large industry army is formed by ten units of China Unicom Shanghai,Shanxi,Shandong,Hebei,Zhejiang,Chongqing,Guangdong,Sichuan Branch,China Unicom Digital Technology Co.,Ltd.and China Unicom Zhiwang Technology Co.,Ltd.

5月17日，在世界电信和信息社会日当天，中国联通宣布，面向重点垂直行业成立装备制造、智慧矿山、智慧钢铁、服装制造、汽车制造、智慧医疗、智慧法务、智慧应急、智慧交通九大行业军团，分别由中国联通上海、山西、山东、河北、浙江、重庆、广东、四川分公司以及联通数字科技有限公司、联通智网科技股份有限公司十家单位负责组建。
