The time difference between PLC and DCS for industrial control is very short:Modicon developed the first PLC system in 1968,which was mainly used to replace relays on automobile production lines for control purposes.Only four years later,Honeywell developed the first DCS system.Of course,unlike the PLC that devotes itself to the production line with harsh environment,the treatment of DCS is obviously much better than that of his”brother”,but it is also obviously more squeamish than PLC in enjoying air conditioning in the control room.

PLC和DCS这对工业控制上的搭档诞生的时间相差很短：Modicon于1968年开发出第一套PLC系统，当时主要用于汽车生产线上替代继电器达到控制的目的。而仅隔4年之后，Honeywell就研发出了第一套DCS系统。当然，不像PLC一出来就投身于环境恶劣的生产线上，DCS的待遇要明显比他“兄弟”好得多，不过在控制室中享受空调的它也明显比PLC要娇气的多。
