我国DCS市场发展大致可以分为三个阶段：第一阶段是20世纪80年代中期到90年代中期的发展萌芽期，随着我国重化工业的不断发展，对DCS系统的重视程度也不断提升；80年代中期，国内许多企业和技术人员逐渐开始对DCS系统进行研发和生产，但因为资金投入量和软件工程量过大，DCS的研发一度中断。第二阶段是初步探索期（90年代中期到2000年），90年代中期开始，DCS的部件除功能模块外，其他硬件也开始向标准化方向发展，网络可以直接使用以太网，研发难度大大降低，DCS掀起了研发热浪潮，同时随着政府相关部门介入DCS产品的开发，在政府项目和资金的大力支持下，上海新华、北京和利时、浙大中控等企业开始崭露头角，虽然DCS的规模和结构成熟度上还落后于进口水平，但已初步实现了规模化生产，年均销量能达到几百套。第三阶段是进口替代期（2000年至今），这一阶段国产DCS品牌逐渐追上进口品牌的技术，客户渠道得到了广泛的开拓；具体来看，2000-2006年为快速增长期，DCS行业随着重化工业的较快发展市场规模得到快速增长，2007-2009年受经济危机和我国经济发展方式转变等因素影响，行业进入下探调整期，2010年至今DCS市场进入到震荡调整期，由于DCS产品多应用于项目型市场，因此受经济周期的影响较大。
